Technical Specifications Writer
THE POSITION: We are seeking a Technical Specifications Writer to lead in the development of construction specifications and other documents as part of the design services we offer our clients. The ideal candidate will have a civil engineering background and be experienced with editing and writing specifications using Word and other Microsoft office programs as well as be sensitive to the expanding technology trends of document production and delivery methods. Although specifications are usually prepared in the Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) format, our clients may dictate other formats on a case by case basis.
We are very flexible with our hours and this position can telecommute, work weekends and evenings. We prefer this position to have a civil engineering background however for the right candidate we will train.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prepare specifications including technical specifications, measurement and payment and other administrative specifications, modifications to clients standard general conditions, and other related work required to provide written contract documents for construction projects;
- Develop and maintain specification standards and documentation templates;
- Participate in discussions to formulate the nature of specification deliverables, such as the degree to which specification requirements will be prescriptive or performance based;
- Provide quality control on specifications prepared by design staff;
- provide instruction to design staff relating to the preparation of specifications.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 3 Years experience writing construction specifications for a civil engineering firm;
- Expertise in writing and editing, developing and maintaining uniform writing style and format standards, and organizing written material;
- Familiarity with integrating citations from reference standards such as ASTM, ACI, and ASME;
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills;
- Strong Microsoft Office skills in Word, Excel and Outlook

Staff Engineer
THE POSITION: We are recruiting for a motivated Staff Engineer. BS, 3 yr min. exp, AutoCAD req. Possibility for ownership in the future for the right candidate after proven success.
PREREQUISITES:
- Must have 3-5 years civil design experience;
- AutoCAD 2002 or higher demonstrated proficiency;
- Autodesk Land Desktop 2006;
- Current California Professional Civil Engineering Registration;
- Knowledge of public works design and/or private development design including but not limited to: hydrology/hydraulic calculations, roads, sewer, water, grading & drainage design;

Project Manager/Senior Engineer
THE POSITION: The Senior Engineer at Green Valley is responsible for performing advanced engineering and management duties and serves as one of the primary leads of the entire firm. The Senior Engineer will supervise engineering technicians and administrative staff. The Senior Engineer will work closely with the Surveying Department and other Engineers and Project Managers within the firm.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Supervise engineering employees; prioritize and assign work; conduct performance evaluations; ensure staff training; and make hiring; termination and disciplinary recommendations.
- Manage the development, review, design, coordination, construction, and/or oversight of municipal and private development projects.
- Lead and participate in the preparation and review of a variety of technical reports and drawings; provide project reviews for other team members; make presentations at public meetings on project findings.
- Review design calculations, engineering drawings and sketches.
- Lead in the administration of firm request for proposals/qualifications, marketing and business development activities. Make recommendations to Firm’s Key Management on potential opportunities. Participate in interviews for related potential work.
- Participate in the development and enforcement of firm policies and procedures.
- Assist and track the preparation of project budgets, Company budgets.
