Civil engineering services were performed with the team of Beverly Prior Architects for the Windsor Fire Station #2. The 7,700 sf. station exemplifies “Green” technology, is seismically strong, and houses firefighters with sleeping quarters and an energy-efficient kitchen.
Hardscape design includes permeable transition areas to reduce underground stormwater infrastructure, increase surface infiltration, and particulate removal to meet local SUSMP and LEED requirements. “Green” technology is evident in the drainage system which utilizes a state-of-the-art automatic, hydraulically operated diversion chamber for wash-down activities. The drainage system protects the environment from contaminates that normally enter the storm sewer system. The overall sight design utilizes methodical engineering to protect existing landscape features and minimize construction impacts.
