Green Valley Consulting Engineers is a growing firm of 25+ which provides construction management and inspection services for a variety of Public Works projects contracted with long established municipal clientele. Projects range from neighborhood water, sewer and flatwork improvements to large County paving projects that vary from AC overlays to FDR to cold foam recycling.

construction manager

We are currently seeking an experienced Construction Manager to be based out of Sonoma County, CA. LOCATION(S): (This position can sit 100% remote in the Bay Area if able to visit job sites when necessary).

Pay: $100,000 - $200,000 a year / full-time / 8 hour shift / overtime

The Construction Manager is responsible for seeing that the project is constructed in accordance with the approved plans, specifications, budget and schedule.

The Construction Manager duties include but are not limited to:

Serve as day-to-day team leader for the project   /   Participate in daily interactions with clients, designers, owners, contractors, inspectors,  and authorities having jurisdiction on the project    /   Meet regularly with all field staff to discuss and resolve matters   /   Verify that materials being incorporated into project are per specification and with approved construction practices   /   Facilitate the resolution of all project issues in a fair but firm manner   /   Coordinate and manage sub-consultants   /   Provide oversite/coordination with project inspectors   /   Observe, monitor, and document the work of the contractor, including management of all project correspondence, RFIs, Field Directives, submittals, change orders, and progress payments   /   Conduct weekly progress meetings including developing and distributing timely meeting agendas and minutes   /   Develop and distribute weekly project reports

Minimum Requirements:

3-5+ years of related work experience including managing the construction or being involved with the engineering design of wastewater treatment facilities, public works infrastructure, and heavy civil projects   /   Bachelor's Degree is desirable but not necessary, preferably in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related engineering discipline   /   Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)   /   Knowledge of the construction process, current project delivery methodologies, and the ability to read, understand and interpret construction plans, drawings, and specifications   /   Experience processing all construction related paperwork as owner’s representative   /   Familiarity with materials, means, methods, tools, and contractual obligations involved in the construction or repair of various physical assets including water and wastewater and process equipment installations   /   Proficient with Microsoft Office software and project management software.

construction inspector

We are currently seeking a skilled Construction Inspector with experience on public infrastructure and facilities projects who will be responsible for monitoring and documenting contractor’s work, materials, and construction progress to ensure compliance with contracts, specifications and schedule.

Pay : $52.02 - $84.99 per hour          Job type: Full-time / Part-time

The Construction Inspectors duties include but are notlimited to:

Review a variety of engineering plans related to civil, traffic and utility engineering projects for constructability in conformance with accepted construction and quality assurance practices
Perform on-site construction inspections to monitor contractor's daily activities to ensure conformance with contract plans, specifications and documents   /   Maintain excellent technical documentation of progress of construction by preparation of daily inspection reports   /   Recommend progress payments and change orders   /   Communicate information and requirements with contractors, representatives of utilities and other governmental agencies to resolve discrepancies and facilitate coordination of activities for timely project completion   /   Make and validate mathematical and basic survey calculations related to grades and distances   /   Interpret and compute field inspection data, evaluating for accuracy and completeness   /   Prepare and maintain a variety of reports, records, and files related to the assigned area of responsibility   /   Interpret and apply various federal, state, local laws, rules, regulations related to construction and inspection activities for projects

Minimum requirements:

Graduation from high school, or the equivalent   /   Minimum 2-years of experience in public works and/or community development projects   /   Ability to work with a variety of trades, technical, and professional personnel to effectively resolve problems and coordinate accomplishment of complex tasks within deadlines   /   Knowledge of the materials, methods, tools, equipment, and instruments used in road, bridge, and drainage construction and the construction and installation of sanitary and water distribution systems   /   Knowledge of grade measurement techniques and paving methods   /   Excellent written and verbal communication skills including computer literacy
Ability to work independently with limited supervision and oversight   /   Ability to detect flaws in construction materials and calculate measured pay quantities   /   Working knowledge of standard specifications for Public Works and Caltrans construction   /   Experience working with local agencies and municipalities
