On-Call Construction Inspection Services for Caltrans District 1 Projects

Project Name

On-Call Construction Inspection Services for Caltrans District 1 Projects

Project Location

Mendocino/Lake Counties, CA

Project Description

Green Valley Consulting Engineers provided Caltrop Corporation with On-Call Construction Inspection Services for a variety of Caltrans improvement projects. Located on State Routes and U.S. Highway 101 within Mendocino and Lake Counties, the projects range in value from $600,000 to $15 million dollars. The projects are part of Caltrop’s five-year Caltrans District 1 contract for “Professional and Technical Construction Engineering and Construction Inspection Support Services.” Improvements consist of safety upgrades (roundabout construction and metal beam guardrail installation); drainage system replacements (culverts, pipes, downdrains, inlets, and rock slope protection); and pavement maintenance (Rubberized Hot Mix Asphalt overlays.). Work also included emergency highway repairs in Lake County after the Valley Fire.

One of the greatest priorities when overseeing construction on a Caltrans project is ensuring work zone safety and mobility for motorists, bicyclists, pedestrians, and workers. Projects require lane closures, altered traffic patterns, daytime and nighttime construction activities along heavily trafficked roadways. Green Valley is proficient in enforcing, assessing, and modifying highway traffic controls. We are also accomplished with complying to safety requirements within Caltrans Construction Manual, California Code of Regulations (Cal/OSHA) – Title 8, and the California Construction Contract Standards. With each project, our goal is to minimize traffic disruptions to ensure that we “keep the public happy,” and establish a successful Contractor relationship.

Clients Say

“I want to extend our deep appreciation to Sean, Charlie, and Gene for their outstanding commitment, work ethic and the professional manner they continue to demonstrate on the Stony Point Road Widening Project and for the many hard nights that they have spent inspecting the paving operations. I also want to thank you for your support by adjusting your staffing commitments and maintaining inspection continuity despite the extended construction schedule. Green Valley has been a great partner with the City on this project, and we thank you!” Lori Urbanek, P.E. / Deputy Director at City of Santa Rosa Public Works
