Green Valley Consulting Engineers was selected to provide construction management and inspection services for the Town’s bi-annual slurry seal project.  The project was comprised of: localized curb and gutter replacement; asphalt dig out repairs; striping removal; crack sealing; slurry seal; and new striping.  Additionally, the bid amount came in under the engineers estimate, which allowed for the project to be expanded to three additional neighborhoods. Due to funding availability, the project was not able to be advertised until after July 1st. This resulted in construction occurring while the surrounding schools were in session. Lines of communications were made with the school administrators to inform them of the forecast schedule and daily progress. Green Valley’s construction manager was the primary point of contact for resident questions and making accommodations for special ingress and egress concerns. Green Valley also delivered nightly updates to the Town, so the project website and Facebook
page could be accurately updated.

The slurry seal operations were completed in 8 working days, which minimized the impacts to the surrounding neighborhoods. Green Valley’s inspectors ensured that traffic control was maintained and disruptions to the neighbors were minimized. Cool weather prevented the contractor from completing all their scheduled streets on the day planned. Green Valley worked with the contractor to prioritize streets to avoid conflicts on the following days. The total area which received the slurry seal treatment was 211,928 square
yards.
