Franquette Avenue Sewer & Water Replacement

Project Name

Franquette Avenue Sewer & Water Replacement

Project Location

City of Santa Rosa

Project Description

Green Valley Consulting Engineers performed the full-time Construction Inspection for this $1.3 million dollar utility improvement project located in the City of Santa Rosa’s residential Montgomery Village Neighborhood. The project replaced approximately 1,900 linear feet of a deficient 6-inch sewer main and 2,000 linear feet of a deteriorating and undersized 4-inch water main with new, larger, and more durable 8-inch PVC mains. The project involved the abandonment or removal of the existing sewer and water system components, the adjustment of utility structures to final grades, and the installation of sewer and water service laterals, storm catch basins and drainage inlets, large (48-inch) precast storm and sewer manholes, new and relocated fire hydrants, and all associated fittings, valves, and accessories. Additionally, roadways and sidewalks within the project area were improved through pavement reconstruction, new crosswalk and roadway striping, raised pavement markers, reconstructed valley gutters, and the reconstruction of a number of curb ramps to meet ADA standards.

Closely spaced utility alignments required “a lot of potholing” to field locate and then adjust existing underground utilities to fit the new sanitary sewer main. Early abandonment of the existing water system was also required to construct a non-standard, “sewer over water main” vertical pipeline arrangement. Green Valley’s inspectors worked hard to ensure that residents were not inconvenienced in any way by construction related issues such as blocked driveways, etc. Their efforts resulted in “not a single phone call or complaint”.

Clients Say

“I want to extend our deep appreciation to Sean, Charlie, and Gene for their outstanding commitment, work ethic and the professional manner they continue to demonstrate on the Stony Point Road Widening Project and for the many hard nights that they have spent inspecting the paving operations. I also want to thank you for your support by adjusting your staffing commitments and maintaining inspection continuity despite the extended construction schedule. Green Valley has been a great partner with the City on this project, and we thank you!” Lori Urbanek, P.E. / Deputy Director at City of Santa Rosa Public Works
